Remembering the
World's Most Critically Rare Breeds
Cleveland Bay:  Even one of the world's most important foundation horse breeds, England's majestic Cleveland Bay, is now critically rare, with numbers of under 1,100 world-wide as of August 2010.

Even some of the much younger American heritage breeds face even greater threats of extinction:

American Cream:  the American Cream Draft Horse, a treasured part of Iowa's state heritage, and the only draft horse breed developed in the United States, is critically rare, and nearing extinction, with fewer than 100 horses alive in the world as recently as October 2007.

Florida Cracker:  Only approximately 200 of the beautiful Florida Cracker, a key horse in Florida's state heritage, were registered in the world in October 2007.

New International Horse Directory
O Horse!, is a new international directory of horse websites world-wide, organized by both category and region. The site links to horse stables offering horseback riding and horse boarding, horse tack shops, and other equestrian resources, world-wide.

Index Chart Footnotes
  • Footnotes on our popularity index chart at the top of the page:
    • We've ranked each breed by it's number of supporting breeder and breed association web sites.  The chart reflects Google-located sites as of October 14, 2007.
    • Web sites are added and removed continually
    • No one search engine indexes all web sites at any given moment
    • Our chart data is accurate for comparison purposes, but should not be assumed to reflect an absolute quantification of any given breed's web presence.
    • Breeds ranking very closely may be tied statistically, given absolute count data.
